Canine Valley trainers are dedicated to fostering strong, positive relationships between dogs and their owners through tailored training programs that promote trust, understanding, and effective communication. Our goal is to help every dog reach its fullest potential while providing the tools and support owners need for a happy and harmonious life together.

Lead Trainer
Laura Teragawa
Laura brings a unique perspective, working with dogs and livestock, as a Ranch Manager, and donating her skills to 4-H & Canine clubs.
​With well over 40 years of experience working in health care and with various animals, volunteering with equine therapeutic organizations, and her involvement with Chase Away Canine Cancer Organization. Laura understands the complex relationships between humans and animals.
​
Laura shares life with a Miniature American Shepherd, 2 Australian Shepherds, an American Staffordshire Terrier, and the beloved board & train dogs!

Laura and her dog Zoey have achieved numerous AKC titles: Zoey Cara Teragawa CD RE FDC DCAT
Zoey’s son Ace will be competing in the 2024 show season.

Casey Masterson
Casey's training journey began in 1973, she dedicated over five decades to the study and training of animals, with a particular focus on canine behavior and training. Casey has worked extensively with a variety of species, including coyotes, wolves, and foxes. Her expertise in dog training spans numerous disciplines, including obedience, herding, Schutzhund, tracking, search and rescue (SAR), carting, and agility.

Trained service dogs to assist individuals with disabilities.

HABIC Program
Contributed to the Human Animal Bond in Colorado (HABIC), a program focused on enhancing the lives of the disabled, autistic, seniors, and incarcerated persons through animal interactions.

Karen Pryor Academy
Attended training through the Karen Pryor Academy, specializing in positive reinforcement training methods.

Behavioral Problems
Has 33 years of experience in addressing and resolving behavioral issues in dogs.

4-H Involvement
Over 38 years of active participation and leadership in 4-H programs.​
​
​Community Engagement
Provided obedience training for Gilpin County and organized animal events at the Gilpin County Fair.

Breeding and Training
Bred, raised, and trained Australian Shepherds for over 50 years, Casey was a primary source in Australian Shepherds of the Mountain West by Kris Toft for the understanding of canine genetics and temperament.
